11 people killed in Indonesia in a fire on illegal oil well

INDONESIA (OBSERVATORY) – As a result of a fire on an unregistered oil well in Aceh province, at least 11 people were killed in Indonesia, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

Dozens of people were injured, the victims were hospitalized with severe burns of 20-60% of the body.

On the well on Wednesday night there was a strong explosion. The report says that the fire has not been extinguished.

Aceh Province in the north of the island Sumatra is rich in gas and oil deposits, local people often create illegal wells for mining resources.
