12 killed in the sinking of a migrant boat off the Greek island of Paxos

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — At least 12 people were killed when their boat sank off the coast of western Greece’s Paxos island on Saturday, Greek authorities said.

The Greek Coast Guard said that helicopters and ships were combing the south-west area of ​​Paxos island in search of survivors.

The authorities had said they had testimonies indicating that up to 50 people were on the boat.

The Greek authorities stated that they had rushed to the area after receiving a distress message from the boat where the water started to enter. No more details were available yet.
