46 migrants sank on the way from the Horn of Africa to Yemen

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) –┬áThe International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Wednesday that 46 migrants had drowned when they were leaving the Horn of Africa on their way to Yemen.

The organization, according to the agency “Reuters”, that the boat was carrying about 100 migrants , mostly Ethiopian nationality, and there are still 16 missing so far.

The boat left Somalia’s Bosaso port on Tuesday, carrying 83 men and 17 women, heading for the Yemeni coast.

Those who boarded the boat wanted to reach Yemen to infiltrate into the Arabian Gulf in an attempt to find a job, the organization said, citing some survivors’ testimonies.
