5 security personnel killed in armed attack in central Pakistan

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Gunmen ambushed a vehicle belonging to the security forces in the central Punjab province, killing five security men, police said on Sunday.

Police spokesman Kaleem Qureshi said the five dead were a police officer, an intelligence officer and a detective.

He explained that they were attacked late in the evening, while on their way to raid a hideout of militants in the area of ​​”Arba Taba” in Rajanpur district, without further details.

The channel “GeoTV” Pakistan (private) police sources said that two other policemen were injured by gunfire in the same attack and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Investigators were gathering evidence from the scene of the attack while the suspects were being sought, the channel said.
