61 people died from coronavirus in France

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — The death toll from Covid-19 disease, caused by a new type of coronavirus, reached 61 people as of mid-afternoon Thursday in France. Infected 2876. This was reported by the General Directorate of Health of the country.

A day ago, the number of deaths in France was 48 – all elderly people. 2281 people were infected, while there were 105 people in intensive care.

The authorities reported the first case of human death from a coronavirus in France on February 15. This was an elderly Chinese tourist who had already arrived in France infected.

The first case of the death of a French citizen in the national territory from a coronavirus was announced on February 26. The outcome of the disease was fatal for the teacher of the Lyceum, whose infection was detected only posthumously.

This person lived in the Oise department, where one of the main foci of the virus is currently located. A number of medical institutions in this department are closed due to illness of medical staff.
