UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has asked US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad to brief all Afghan leaders on the details of a draft US-Taliban deal, his spokesman said on Monday.
Khalilzad met Ghani on Monday and presented him with a draft deal. He is due to meet this week with the country’s leaders in Kabul to build consensus before signing.
Presidential spokesman Sadiq Siddiqui told reporters the US-backed government would need to “examine and evaluate” the details of the draft agreement.
