Afghanistan: five children died in bomb explosion

AFGHANISTAN (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Five children were killed, one was injured in a bomb blast in Faryab province in northern Afghanistan, 1TV reported citing officials.

A statement by the 209th Shahin military corps said the bomb was planted by Taliban militants. It is noted that the explosion occurred at a time when the children were playing.

In Afghanistan, there is a confrontation between government forces and militants of the radical Taliban movement, which had previously captured a significant territory in rural areas of the country and launched an attack on large cities.

The influence of the Islamic State terrorist group has intensified throughout the country. Afghan National Defense and Security Forces are conducting joint counter-terrorism operations across the country.
