UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — EasyJet passengers were able to see the Northern Lights on a flight from Iceland to the United Kingdom. The captain even decided to take a tour so that each passenger could admire the spectacle. A photographer took several shots of this light phenomenon.
A photographer managed to capture a rare scene drawn in the skies by the Northern Lights during a flight between Iceland and the United Kingdom on February 6. The 38-year-old said all passengers on the plane were “impressed” by the colored lights that “danced around the plane,” in remarks quoted by the Sun.
The photographer, who stayed in Iceland, had already seen these northern lights during his trip there, but said it was “an ideal way to end your vacation”.
A favor from pilots
The purpose of his trip with friends was precisely to go and see these northern lights. “During the return flight, when we arrived above the clouds, we saw these lights dancing around the plane. I couldn’t believe it, I just thought it was incredible”.
The photographer even asked a flight attendant if they could dim the lights inside so that passengers could see the auroras more clearly, which they did.
About five or ten minutes later, the captain came to announce that the plane was going around for everyone to see through the left and right windows.
The northern lights are mainly visible in high latitude regions with little light pollution.
