Albania reports 8 new cases of coronavirus rising total to 23

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — According to latest reports there are 8 more people tested positive over the last 24 hours after the checks, rising total coronavirus confirmed cases to 23 in Albania.

Of the new cases, 2 are in Durres, 2 in Elbasan, 1 in Rrogozhina and 3 in Tirana.

“Over the last 24 hours, 145 cases of COVID-19 have been tested and in total 298 cases have been tested. So far 23 cases have been positive for COVID-19 ”. The announcement was made public during the daily communiqué by Deputy Minister of Health Mira Rakacolli.

5 of them are in the Infectious Disease Hospital in Tirana (3 cases from the first identified with COVID-19, another case, 31 year old resident in Tirana, with travel history with Italy and a 45 year old woman from Rrogozhina, with travel history with Italy).

Their situation is stabilized up to this moment. While 18 other cases (in total) that resulted positive are self-isolating at home without any particular problems.

The distribution of confirmed cases with COVID-19 is as follows:

Tirana – 16 cases

Durres – 3 cases (one of which died)

Lushnje – 1 case

Elbasan – 2 cases

Mat – 1 case

All cases have had travel stories with Italy.

As mentioned, 5 of these persons from Tirana and Rrogozhina are hospitalized in the Infectious Diseases. The rest are self-contained in the home. The 2 new cases of Durres are patients who have had contact with the hospital (deceased) but have no signs of illness and are self-isolating at home.

Regarding doctors and nurses in Durres 50 tests from the first sample conducted in Durres were negative. We will continue to track cases.

The number of persons in self-isolation is 18. The number of persons in self-isolation is 134.
