Aleppo-Damascus highway freed from terrorists

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that linking the northern Syrian capital Aleppo with the southern cities of the country – Hama, Homs and Damascus – the M5 highway has been completely freed from terrorists.

According to the head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria, Yuri Borenkov, after establishing control over the section of the international highway, a security zone was created under the Russian-Turkish memorandum of September 17, 2018, and this will accelerate the restoration of peaceful life in Syria.

At the same time, the Russian defense department denied the existence of massive flows of refugees from the Idlib de-escalation zone, emphasizing that such reports have no factual basis. Currently, a significant part of the inhabitants of Idlib province safely leaves dangerous areas and goes into areas controlled by the Syrian government.
