UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – A US congressman known for his sympathies for Russia far outstripped his opponents at the California primary, which had overwhelmingly voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Republican congressman Dana Tyrone Rohrabacher , a longtime supporter of Russia, often considered a “friend of Putin,” qualified, among others, for the November election at the California primaries, reports The New York Times.
He was in the lead with nearly 30 percent of the vote, while dozens of candidates run for congressional and state governor positions.
Congratulations to Dana Rohrabacher on his big California win. We are proud of you Dana!

Although primaries are currently held in seven states, California is attracting the most attention from Democrats, who aspire to counter President Trump’s policies. The opposition wants to gain control of the lower house of the US Congress in the November 2018 election.
According to a preliminary tally, Republican Devin Nunes, head of the intelligence committee of the House of Representatives, also far outstripped his closest Democratic opponent. Mr Nunes participated in the investigation into the so-called “Russian trace” in the 2016 US presidential campaign.
After months of work, the investigators found nothing to prove the existence of a plot between Donald Trump and the Russian authorities.
Voters in California voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, but it was Donald Trump who was finally elected President. The Democrats now hope to take their revenge.
Dana Rohrabacher is perceived as a “friend of Putin” because he particularly opposed the NATO enlargement, the anti-Russian sanctions (which he called hypocrites), that he approved the attachment from Crimea to Russia calling it a thoughtful choice of its inhabitants.
