Argentina reports South America’s first death from coronavirus

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — Argentina reports South America’s first death from coronavirus.

The first death of a coronavirus patient was reported in Argentina, announced on Saturday by Todo Noticias.

According to agency, a 64-year-old man returned to Argentina from France.

“We are talking about a man of 64 who returned from France,” the media said.

The patient suffered from hypertension, diabetes, bronchitis, had kidney problems.

Earlier in Argentina, 8 cases of coronavirus were confirmed.

On December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan in the central part of the country ( Hubei Province ).

Experts have identified the causative agent of the disease – this is a new coronavirus. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name – COVID-19.
