Armenia again covered by a wave of protests

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – Several protest actions take place in Armenia. This is reported by the media.

Thus, several dozen demonstrators broke into the building of the city administration of Yerevan. They shout out slogans similar to those used during protests against former Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan.

Participants of the action demand the resignation of the mayor of the Armenian capital, he is accused, like Sargsyan earlier, of ineffective management, as well as making claims about improper, in their opinion, landscaping near the administration – there trees were cut down.

Also in Yerevan one of the main transport lines is blocked – Arshakunyats avenue, which connects the south and east of the capital with the center. It was blocked by supporters of the armed group “Sasna Tsrer” (“Sasun Brave”). They demand to change the measure of restraint to their colleagues in court.

Participants of the Sasna Tsrer armed group captured the building of the PPS regiment in Yerevan in the summer of 2016.

A group of 31 people held the building for two weeks, after which they surrendered to the authorities. As a result, two policemen were killed and three others were injured.

But a few dozen former and current employees of the plant “Nairit” gathered near the residence of the Prime Minister of the state. They demand to restart the enterprise and pay the workers wages for the last four months.

The employees of the enterprise’s security take part in the action mainly. On December 31, the term of previous employment contracts expired, new ones were not concluded, but there was also no order to dismiss them.

After the collapse of the USSR, the chemical plant Nairit, which had ceased its work, was partially restarted in 1992, and since April 2010 completely ceased its work due to the financial crisis.
