BAHRAIN (OBSERVATORY) – Bahrain announced on Saturday its full support for the military operation launched by the United States, Britain and France in Syria.
“It expresses its full support for the military operation carried out by the United States of America in cooperation with the United Kingdom and France, which targeted the chemical weapons program and military sites in Syria,” the foreign ministry said in a statement issued by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
“This military operation was necessary to protect civilians in all Syrian territory and to prevent the use of any prohibited weapons that would increase violence and deteriorate humanitarian conditions,” she said.
“The UN Security Council and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) should investigate the use of chemical weapons in the eastern Ghouta,” stressing the importance of concerted efforts to end the Syrian crisis and reach a political solution based on the principles of Geneva 1 and UN Security Council Resolution 2254, Sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria “.
The United States and Britain and France launched strikes against Syrian military installations on Sunday, after reports of an alleged chemical attack on April 7 in Duma, which was controlled by opposition militants near Damascus.
The Syrian army announced that one hundred and ten rockets were fired by what he described as “triple aggression” towards Syrian targets in Damascus and beyond.
The United States and some Western countries accuse the Syrian army of using chemical weapons in the attack on the eastern city of Duma and vowed to retaliate.
The Syrian government denies the accusations and considers them “fabrications” used by the West to justify its attacks on the country.
