Bangladesh reports first 3 cases of coronavirus

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — Bangladesh confirms the first cases of coronavirus infection , the disease was found in three people, said Sabrina Flora, director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research, Meerjadi.

Speaking at a briefing that was broadcast by a number of local media, she said that two of the sick, members of the same family, had recently arrived from Italy. A third person became infected after contact with these people, Flora noted.

The age of patients from 20 to 35 years.

The Bangladeshi authorities on March 4 restricted the entry of people from Italy, South Korea , Japan and Kuwait without a medical certificate stating that they are not infected with coronavirus.

On December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization ( WHO ) about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan in the central part of the country (Hubei Province).

Experts have identified the causative agent of the disease – this is a new coronavirus. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name – COVID-19.

The number of infected in mainland China exceeded 80.6 thousand people, 3097 died, more than 57 thousand were cured. According to the latest WHO data, 335 people have died outside the PRC.
