Biden to call for Trump’s ouster if he does not cooperate with Congress

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Former Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden said on Tuesday that the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 would call for the removal of President Donald Trump if the latter does not cooperate in the ongoing congressional investigations, especially On the issue of Ukraine.

Biden “will call on Trump to cooperate with all the pending legal requests for information – on the issue of Ukraine and other investigations – and if Trump does not give in, Congress will not have to launch the impeachment proceedings,” the campaign team told AFP.

In a speech in Wilmington, his home in Delaware, at 1430 hours (1830 GMT), Biden will say that “Trump’s recent abuses go beyond all his previous abuses,” he said.

Trump again denied on Tuesday that he had urged his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelinsky to open an investigation into Biden’s son using military aid intended for Ukraine as a lever.

This presumed threat is at the heart of a debate over whether to start impeachment proceedings, as the Democratic opposition suspects Trump has used his position to force a foreign official to act in his own favor.

Trump publicly acknowledged that he mentioned Biden and his son Hunter, who worked with a Ukrainian gas production group from 2014, in a telephone conversation with Zelinski in the summer of 2019.

This summer, a member of the US intelligence service in charge of the conversation was informed.

On Tuesday, Trump said his accusation of pressuring the Ukrainian president to open an investigation into Biden’s son was “ridiculous.”
