BREAKING: Cruise ship locked down in Australia after passenger tested for coronavirus

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY BREAKING NEWS) — A cruise ship that was in New Zealand earlier this month has been locked down in Australia as authorities test a passenger for coronavirus, The Australian is reporting.

It is unclear where the Singaporean male passenger boarded the Norwegian Jewel, which toured New Zealand for 10 days before arriving in Sydney on Friday.

The Australian says that he fell ill with a respiratory illness.

A cruise ship docked in Sydney Harbour has denied reports it was put into lockdown over a case of coronavirus.

The Norwegian Jewel cruise liner arrived at the overseas passenger terminal at Circular Quay about 6am today after travelling from New Zealand.

Multiple Australian media outlets have reported that a passenger had fallen ill on board the luxury ship, with a suspected case of coronavirus. As a result, passengers were delayed from disembarking the cruise liner, the reports claimed.
