Britain, China agree that use of chemical weapons is “unacceptable”

UNITED KINGDOM (OBSERVATORY) –¬†British Prime Minister Teresa Mae said she agreed with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday that the use of chemical weapons “by anyone anywhere and for any target is unacceptable.”

“The prime minister pointed out that the use of nerve gas against Yulia and Sergey Scrippal in Salisbury was a serious attack on the territory under UK sovereignty and was the first use of nerve gas on European soil since the Second World War,” a spokeswoman said in a statement.

As for Syria, Mai told Shi that “preventing Russia from taking diplomatic action underscores the importance of the international community cooperating to establish an independent mechanism that attributes responsibility to perpetrators of such attacks as in Duma,” she said.
