Britain expresses deep concern over Iran’s intention to accelerate uranium enrichment

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Britain said on Thursday it was concerned and disappointed by Iran’s plan to take another step that breached its commitments in the 2015 nuclear deal to start developing centrifuges to speed up uranium enrichment.

“Iran’s plan to suspend work under the limits on nuclear research and development is very worrying,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“This third step, in breach of its obligations under the nuclear deal, is particularly disappointing as it comes at a time when we and our international partners are working hard to reduce the escalation of tension with Iran,” the statement said.
