UNITED KINGDOM (OBSERVATORY) – Britain joined the missile strike on Syria because of the ineffectiveness of the diplomatic approach. Such a statement was made by the Permanent Representative of Britain to the UN Karen Pearce.
She noted that London tried to stop the use of chemical weapons by diplomatic means, but Russia vetoed the relevant resolutions six times.
“We had no choice but to conclude that only diplomatic actions in the future will no longer be as effective as in the past,” the British diplomat quoted RIA Novosti as saying.
On April 14, the United States, Britain and France struck a missile attack on Syria’s military and civilian infrastructure facilities. Thus, Western states responded to a chemical attack in the Duma, which allegedly occurred on April 7.
The US military and its allies fired about 100 cruise missiles and air-to-surface missiles. Most of them, as reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, shot down the air defense systems of the Arab Republic.
