British lab seeks volunteers to infect them with coronavirus

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — Queen Mary BioEnterprises, an innovative center in London, is looking for 24 volunteers to inject coronavirus and participate in a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine research study.

Volunteers will undergo a series of medical tests, after which they will be infected with two weaker strains of coronavirus, 0C43 and 229E, which cause mild respiratory symptoms. Then they will check existing or new vaccines.

Patients will have to be quarantined for two weeks, adhere to a certain diet, avoid physical exercise and contact with people. The results of the experiment will help researchers focus on finding effective treatments for COVID-19.

Selected volunteers will be paid $ 4,588 for participating in the experiment.

Testing will begin as soon as the laboratory receives permission from the Office for the Control of Medicines and Medical Devices.

Queen Mary BioEnterprises is just one of 20 companies to join the global SARS-CoV-2 vaccine race. It is expected that she will be ready around the next winter.

At the moment, the number of cases of coronavirus infection with COVID-19 has almost reached 120,000, of which 4,293 are fatal.
