UNITED KINGDOM (OBSERVATORY) – Britain’s opposition Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has called for a vote in his country’s parliament to find out how legitimate Britain’s involvement in the tripartite assault on Syria has been recently.
Corbin said the legal basis for the strike was for Syria to be discussed, adding that he would have supported any action backed by the UN Security Council only.
He said in an interview with the BBC: “I tell the Minister of Foreign Affairs .. And the Prime Minister: Where do you support the legal?”.
“The legal basis should have been self-defense or the mandate of the UN Security Council,” he said. “Intervention for humanitarian reasons is legally understandable and debatable at the moment.”
