Buhari will seek a second term in Nigeria

NIGERIA (OBSERVATORY) –┬áNigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s office said on Monday the president would seek a second term in the February 2019 election to end months of speculation about his plans after his illness.

Buhari, 75, spent most of last year in Britain treating an undisclosed disease, sparking speculation from opposition groups and other critics that he was not suitable for the job.

Many Nigerians laugh and describe him as a “slow father” but his supporters praise him for Nigeria’s slide out of the recession in the second half of last year.

The presidency said on Twitter that Buhari will seek to win the nomination of the Conference of All Progressive Party to compete in the elections of 2019.
