Burkina Faso: 5 killed in an attack on two military positions (army)

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Four soldiers and a policeman were killed in attacks on two army posts in the north of the country, the army said on Saturday.

Militant Islamist attacks and clashes between herders and farmers have escalated this year, killing hundreds of civilians and soldiers.

Unidentified gunmen attacked a military post in the town of Bahin and another in the village of Yensi in the early hours of Saturday, the military said in a statement.

He said the attacks took place “at about the same time”.

Troops were able to retake the positions and repel the attackers, he said.
