UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The death toll has risen to 259 as a result of the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) which is increasing its impact throughout China.
A statement from the National Health Commission (NHC) in China said 259 people died from the 2019-nCoV epidemic that is effective nationwide while 11,791 others were affected, of whom 1,759 were in serious condition.
The number of people suspected of being infected by the virus has also increased to 17,988. 118.478 persons were placed under surveillance and to date 243 have received treatment and discharged from hospital.
In addition, 20 people are said to be affected by the virus in China’s special administrative areas, including 13 in Hong Kong and 7 in Macau.
In the last 24 hours, 46 people died
Due to the rapidly spreading coronavirus since January 20, it is said that 46 deaths have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, 2,102 cases of new coronavirus infection and 5,019 suspected cases.
In the Hubei region, which is the epicenter of the coronavirus, 249 people are said to have died while the number of cases determined by the virus is 7,153.
In addition to China, worldwide cases of coronavirus have been recorded in 19 people in Thailand, 15 in Japan, 13 in Singapore, 11 in South Korea, 9 in Australia, 8 in Malaysia, 7 in Germany, 6 in the US and France, 5 in Vietnam, 4 cases in the UAE, 3 in Canada, 2 in Britain, Russia and Italy, and one in Nepal, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Finland, India, Spain and Sweden.
