China unveils latest “hypersonic” ballistic missile

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese military released a video showing the launch of a DF-17 ballistic missile capable of carrying an ultrasonic head.

The video is the first video to show the modern Chinese missile, the Chinese newspaper dambiev said, adding that the official unveiling of the missile would take place at the military parade on October 1 in Beijing.

The DF-17 air test was conducted in 2017 and was successful, according to Chinese experts. The missile showed a high accuracy of tens of meters after being fired to a distance of 2500 kilometers.

The missile can be equipped with either a normal or nuclear warhead. One of the peculiarities of the missile is its ability to carry an imposing head.
