Coronavirus “breaks the rules” – positive newborn baby

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — Italian authorities have confirmed that a newborn baby has tested positive for coronavirus in Bergamo.

She is being treated in the intensive care unit.

The news was announced by the head of the Italian Institute of Public Health, Silvio Brusaferro.

“The toddler who has had a few days of life under medical care for minor postpartum problems has been found to be positive by coronavirus. The toddler said he is under surveillance every moment and so far no artificial respiration has been applied to him.”

Cases of coronavirus-infected minors have been identified days before, but this is the first case of a newborn affected by coronavirus.
