Coronavirus death tolls rises to 560

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Coronavirus death tolls rises to 560 and the death toll from coronavirus only in the Chinese province of Hubei increased to 549 people, 633 were discharged, the number of infected increased to 19,665, the regional health committee said.

During the day, authorities confirmed 2987 new cases of the disease, of which 1766 were in Wuhan. In the province, 70 new deaths were registered, another 113 people were discharged from hospitals.

An experimental antiviral drug from Gilead Sciences Inc. is expected to start testing in China on Thursday, but the World Health Organization cautioned that a vaccine or treatment for the coronavirus is a long way off.

In China’s Hubei province of 60 million people, where the outbreak is centered, scenes of chaos and despair are emerging as residents cope with the modern world’s largest-ever quarantine.

A large new testing lab opened in Wuhan to more quickly diagnose patients.

On December 31, Chinese authorities informed WHO of an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Experts have identified the causative agent of the disease – coronavirus 2019-nCoV.

More than 190 people fell ill outside this country, one of them died. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international concern.
