Coronavirus epidemic could disrupt EU football championship

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — UEFA does not exclude the cancellation of all competitions under its auspices, including the European Championship 2020, if the coronavirus epidemic spreads.

This was stated by vice president of the organization Michelle Uva.

“We are following the development of the situation. But if the situation worsens, then we will have to cancel the football competition,” UEFA Vice President said.

The European Football Championship is due to take place from June 12 to July 12 in 13 European cities.

The epidemiological situation worsened at the end of last week, when an outbreak of coronavirus infection in Italy was detected. For security reasons, four matches of the Italian Serie A were postponed.

Six meetings of the next round of the Italian Championship and the match of the Europa League “Inter” – “Ludogorets” (Bulgaria) will be held without spectators.
