Coronavirus in Africa, 1 victim, 100 affected

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — Cases of coronavirus have been recorded worldwide, but so far in Africa the number has been very low.

Nigeria and South Africa confirmed some new cases yesterday while registering the first casualty in Egypt.

Authorities reported that the victim was a German national who had come for tourism.

There are currently 59 affected people in Egypt, more than half of the total in other African countries.

Algeria, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Senegal, Tunisia, Togo, Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria and Morocco have reported approximately 100 cases of coronavirus.

Many of those infected are returnees from Europe, mainly from Italy and France.

A group of 10 people are isolated after returning from northern Italy a few days ago.
