Coronavirus, Italy declares a state of emergency

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Italy declares state of emergency for pathological risk from Wuhan virus. The decision was taken at the newly-convened Council of Ministers, Ora News reporter Alba Kepi informs.

Italy confirmed two cases of the new coronavirus yesterday and ordered a halt to flights to China.

Meanwhile yesterday Italy confirmed two cases of coronavirus. The affected are a Chinese couple from Wuhan, who has been staying at a luxury hotel in central Rome since January 23. They had traveled from Malpensa Airport in Milan to Rome.

The Chinese couple are hospitalized in an isolated ward at the Rome Institute of Infectious Diseases and are under the control of a specialized medical team.

The hotel where the Chinese couple stayed is a luxurious downtown Rome facility with 200 rooms and a large service staff.

The room where the Chinese couple was staying was kept in isolation. Also, the Italian Prime Minister during the press conference informed that Italy has decided to stop all flights from China and according to the head of the Italian government is the first country in the world to take such a measure at national level.

The Italian Prime Minister has called not to panic and social alarm spread. All measures are being taken to identify all the places the Chinese couple has visited in Italy.
