UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The Ministry of Defense has published footage for the delivery of components of the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system to Turkey.
On Sunday, Ankara announced the completion of the second stage of supply of complexes. The Russian military confirmed this information.
The Ministry of Defense said that the components of the S-400 were delivered by Russian aircraft of military transport aviation.
In 2017, Moscow and Ankara signed a contract for the supply of air defense systems for $ 2.5 billion. The Turkish authorities will pay part of the deal themselves, part will cover the Russian loan. Turkey became the third country after Belarus and China, where Moscow supplies the Triumphs, and India will soon join them.
The United States demanded that Turkey abandon the deal and purchase their Patriot complexes in return. Otherwise, Washington threatened to delay or cancel the sale of Ankara’s latest F-35 fighters, but the Turkish leadership refused to make concessions.
The first stage of deliveries of Russian S-400s to Turkey began in July.
