Dow down more than 1,000 points amid concern over coronavirus

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Major US stock indexes are down about 4% in the final minutes of trading amid concern over coronavirus. The Dow is down more than 1,000 points.

Major Wall Street indexes fell on Thursday, falling for the sixth straight session as the S&P 500 confirmed its fastest correction in history as the rapid spread of the coronavirus worldwide raised investor concerns about economic growth.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 1197.43 points, or 4.44 percent, to 25,760.16 points.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index fell 137.99 points, or 4.43 percent, to 2,978.4 points.

The Nasdaq Composite fell 414.30 points, or 4.61 percent, to 8,566.48 points.
