Egypt is preparing a unique project for the first time in its history

EGYPT (OBSERVATORY) –┬áThe Egyptian Ministry of Transport has begun to study the establishment of a transport network linking the Mediterranean and Red Railways for the first time in the history of Egypt.

The first phase of the project will begin by connecting the port of Alexandria with Damietta, and the second phase will extend the railway from the port of Nuweiba to South Sinai in the Red Sea, within the framework of the new port plan implemented by the Maritime Transport Academy in cooperation with the German port of Hamburg.

Samir Nawar, former head of the Egypt Railways Authority, said the project linking Bahrain to the Red Sea through a railway would put Egypt on the global container transport map, noting that linking Bahrain is a positive step towards maximizing the economic benefit of the Egyptian state in general and the Egyptian Railways Authority Especially.
