Informed of an attack on the Pama gendarmerie brigade in eastern Burkina Faso, which took place on the night of 27-28 August, Fada N’Gourma internal security forces were sent to reinforce but fell into an ambush.
The lead vehicle jumped on an artisanal mine on a paved road which claimed the lives of at least eight of its occupants, according to media sources referring to their sources in the security services.
“The explosive device was placed in a pothole so that it was not visible by the reinforcements,” said one source.
