France: fourth person died from coronavirus

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — An elderly man died in the Morbihan department in western France , becoming the fourth victim of coronavirus in the country, the France Info portal reports with a link to the General Directorate of Health.

“An elderly patient, aged 92, who became infected with coronavirus, died in Morbihan … Thus, the indicators increased to four deaths out of 204 infected,” the publication said.

On December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization (WHO) about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan in the central part of the country (Hubei Province).

Experts have identified the causative agent of the disease – this is a new coronavirus. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name – COVID-19.

The number of infected in mainland China exceeded 80 thousand people, 2946 died. Cases of infection outside the PRC were recorded, according to the latest WHO data, in 72 countries, the number of infected people exceeded 10 thousand, more than 160 people died.
