France reports 2 new cases of coronavirus

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) – Two new cases of coronavirus infection were detected on Tuesday in France, the BFMTV channel reported with reference to the head of the French Directorate General of Health Jerome Salomon.

According to him, one of the infected is a Chinese woman, she moved to France on February 7 and was hospitalized in Paris.

The second patient is a Frenchman who returned to the country from Italian Lombardy. He is now in a hospital in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of southeastern France.

Earlier, WHO reported that in France there were 12 cases of infection, one patient died, the rest recovered.

On December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan in the central part of the country (Hubei Province). Experts have identified the causative agent of the disease – this is a new coronavirus. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name – COVID-19.

The number of people infected in mainland China has already exceeded 77.6 thousand people, 2663 have died, over 27 thousand have been cured.
