UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — During their meeting in Riyadh on Sunday, financial officials of the Group of Twenty countries agreed to formulate a final statement that includes reference to climate change.
The agreement came after a consensual drafting to overcome US objections to a previous draft that referred to “macroeconomic risks related to environmental sustainability”.
Finance ministers and central bank governors of the Group of Twenty meet in the Saudi capital to discuss the most important global economic challenges, focusing on growth expectations and new rules for imposing a tax on global digital companies.
