SYRIA (OBSERVATORY) – The General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces announced plans to supply Syria with new air defense equipment in the near future, as well as to train Syrian specialists.
“Russian specialists will continue training Syrian military personnel, as well as assist in the development of new air defense systems, the deliveries of which will be carried out in the near future,” said Colonel-General Sergei Rudskoy, chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the RF Armed Forces General Staff.
With the help of Russian specialists, Syrian air defense equipment was restored and improved, Rudskoy said.
During the attack on Syria on April 14, the bulk of precision weapons of the Western coalition was destroyed by Soviet-made air defense complexes. “This is the C-125, the Wasp and the Square,” Rudskoy said.
“The Ministry of Defense of Syria analyzed in detail the results of the missile strike, which has already introduced a number of changes to the air defense system of the country, which will further increase its reliability,” Rudskoy explained.
