Germany: Equity markets fell by 12.24%

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — The equity markets ended the session down on Thursday; the decline in the Insurance, Construction and Technology sectors contributed to this decline.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 12.24% to hit a 3-year low, while the MDAX index fell 10.91%, and the TecDAX index fell 11.02% down.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Credit Linde PLC (DE: LINI ), down 6.36% or 9,800 points for a closing stock price of 144.350. In second position, we find Beiersdorf AG (DE: BEIG ) which lost 6.74% or 6.120 points to close at 84.740. The title Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE: HNKG_p ) completes this top three with a decline of 7.42% or 5.53 points to end the session at 68.99.

RWE AG (DE: RWEG ) posted the worst performance of the session, losing 18.92% or 5.250 points to trade at 22.500 at the close. Wirecard AG (DE: WDIG ) drops 17.49% or 18,290 points and finishes at 86.310. For its part, Deutsche Bank AG (DE: DBKGn ) dropped 17.48% or 1.044 points for a closing price of 4.928.

The best performance of the MDAX index went to Morphosys (DE: MORG ) unchanged at 0.00% for a price of 91.050, Qiagen NV (DE: QIA ) down 2.58% to 35.460 and Knorr-Bremse AG ( DE: KBX ) which lost 3.62% for a closing price at 78.86.

The worst performers were Commerzbank AG (DE: CBKG ) which fell 20.90% to 3.127 at the close, K + S AG NA ON (DE: SDFGn ) which lost 20.45% to 5.290 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG ( DE: PSMGn ), down 18.50% to 7.4700 at the close.

The best performance of the TecDAX index returns to Morphosys (DE: MORG ) unchanged at 0.00% for a price of 91.050, RIB Software AG (DE: RIB ) down 1.75% to 28,000 and Qiagen NV (DE : QIA ) which lost 2.58% for a closing price at 35,460.

The worst performing stocks were Wirecard AG (DE: WDIG ), which fell 17.49% to 86.310 at the close, Siltronic AG (DE: WAFGn ) which lost 15.18% to 55.080 and S&T AG (DE: SANT1 ) down 14.56% to 15.14 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 715 to 19 and 7 ended unchanged.

Linde PLC (DE: LINI ) stocks retreated to a 52-week low after dropping 6.36% or 9,800 points for a course of 144.350. Beiersdorf AG (DE: BEIG ) shares retreated to a 52-week low after dropping 6.74% or 6.120 points for a price of 84.740. Wirecard AG (DE: WDIG ) shares retreated to a 52-week low after declining 17.49% or 18,290 points to trade 86.310. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE: HNKG_p ) shares retreated and reached a low, after declining 7.42% or 5.53 points to trade at 68.99. Deutsche Bank AG securities (FROM: DBKGn) fell and reached an all-time low after a drop of 17.48% or 1.044 points to a price of 4.928. Commerzbank AG (DE: CBKG ) shares retreated and reached a low after dropping 20.90% or 0.826 points to trade at 3.127. K + S AG NA ON (DE: SDFGn ) shares retreated to a low, after falling 20.45% or 1.360 points to trade at 5.290. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE: PSMGn ) shares retreated and reached a low, after dropping 18.50% or 1.6960 points for a price of 7.4700. Wirecard AG (DE: WDIG ) shares retreated to a 52-week low after declining 17.49% or 18,290 points to trade 86.310. S&T AG securities (FROM:SANT1 ) fell back to a 52-week low after dropping 14.56% or 2.58 points for a price of 15.14.

The DAX New Volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, rose 32.51% to 70.76, a new high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 3.08% or 50.60 points to $ 1,591.70 a troy ounce. Regarding other raw materials, crude oil for delivery in April fell by 6.67% or 2.20 points for a price of $ 30.78 per barrel, while Brent for delivery in May lost 8.97% or 3.21 points for a price of $ 32.58 per barrel.

EUR / USD fell 0.67% to 1.1192, while EUR / GBP gained 0.82% to 0.8857.

The US Dollar Index gained 0.85% to 97.310.
