UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Google has produced the most powerful quantum computer in the world, the Financial Times reported.
According to the newspaper, this supercomputer can carry out calculations and tasks much faster than the IBM Summit computer, which was considered the most powerful “super computer” in the world.
The paper wrote that the calculation carried out by the supercomputer IBM in 10,000 years, the new Google computer, can be completed in just 200 seconds.
The information was first published in a scientific report on the NASA Web site, but was later deleted.
The newspaper said that the new computer “Google” can currently do only one technical calculation, but it will be able to solve tasks and practical functions, after several years.
“To our knowledge, the experiment carried out is the first calculation that can only be performed on a quantum processor,” the report quoted the report as saying.
“This serious acceleration, compared to the classical algorithms known, provides an empirical application of the superiority of mathematical problems,” the report said.
The Google designers described the supercomputer as “a very important point on the road to large-scale quantum computing,” the paper said. The group predicted that quantum computers would be many times higher than the progress indicators found in Gordon Moore’s law.
The newspaper pointed out that the company, “Google”, refused to provide any comments on the subject.
