Gunmen storm the headquarters of the Guaido party in Caracas

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Masked gunmen attacked Friday the headquarters of opposition party Juan Guaido in Caracas on the eve of a recent demonstration against socialist President Nicolas Maduro, Guaido and witnesses said.

The men, dressed in black and carrying pistols and rifles, stormed the headquarters of the Popular Will Party and took computers, surveillance cameras and recordings. Witnesses told reporters that they also took the identities of about 30 people who were there.

The attackers did not declare belonging to any police or army division.

Guaido denounced Twitter for “seizure” and “intimidation” by Maduro’s “dictatorship.”

Guaido hoped to take advantage of events in Bolivia, where Socialist President Evo Morales was forced to resign under pressure from the demonstrators and after the army abandoned him.

Guaido called on his supporters to take to the streets on Saturday, demanding the departure of Maduro.

Guaido declared himself acting president in Venezuela, and was recognized by about fifty countries.
