Haftar militias gather south of Tripoli to continue their attacks

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS)

Military sources affiliated with the Libyan Government of National Reconciliation (GNA) have reported that militias of the leader of illegitimate armed forces east of Libya, Khalifa Haftar, are gathering south of Tripoli to continue their attacks.

GNA said armored vehicles and UAE artillery had reached the headquarters of the Haftar militias in Terhune, a city southeast of Tripoli.

Sources point out that even after Haftar accepted the ceasefire, support for him has not stopped, noting that it indicates that Haftar “accepted the ceasefire to be repositioned”.

The cease-fire agreement, drafted jointly by Turkey and Russia, was signed by the GNA in Moscow, while the Haftar party asked for a one-day deadline to think and consult on the points in the text. Russia’s Defense Ministry announced this morning that Haftar had left Moscow without signing the agreement.

It has not yet been officially announced if Haftar has arrived in Libya, but it is alleged that he has gone to Egypt or the United Arab Emirates providing him with military, political and financial support.
