UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The Hamas resistance group has called on the Palestinian Authority to unite all Palestinian groups and work against Israel’s decision to cut millions of dollars in tax funding from Palestinians, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said in a written statement that the decision “once again proves Israel’s piracy.”
On Sunday, the Israeli security cabinet voted to withdraw $ 43 million from tax funds the Israeli administration transfers monthly to the Palestinian Authority.
Palestinians say funds are needed to help families affected by Israeli violence and occupation.
In February last year, the Israeli cabinet also approved the withdrawal of $ 144m in Palestinian tax funds.
Qassem also called on Palestinian groups to work together to resist policies and decisions by the Israeli administration.
Israel’s 13-year blockade on the Gaza Strip has devastated the coastal enclave’s economy and deprived its two million residents of free movement in and out of Gaza, preventing many essential equipment from entering.
