UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned Saudi Arabia on Friday not to bet on a war against Iran, saying the Islamic Republic would destroy the kingdom and urged Riyadh and the United Arab Emirates to stop the war in Yemen rather than buy more air defense.
Nasrallah said buying new air defenses would not work to secure the kingdom’s drones, such as those used in the September 14 attacks on the oil facilities, because of the ability of those small planes to maneuver and change direction.
“The war on Iran is not a bet because they will destroy you,” Nasrallah said in a televised address.
He said the attacks on Aramco’s two oil facilities showed the strength of the Iranian-backed coalition.
He said buying a new air defense system to protect all Saudi airspace would be “very expensive and not feasible.” The least costly to Saudi Arabia … as well as the UAE … is to stop the war on the Yemeni people.”
