ALBANIA (OBSERVATORY) – Patriarch Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and the rest of Russia, called for the strengthening of relations with Orthodox Albania.
“We, the Orthodox Christians who live in different countries, share the same values and we must adhere to them,” the patriarch said in a crowd of believers during a mass in the center of Tirana.
Patriarch Kirill arrived in Albania on a historic visit, the first of its kind to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, to this European country with a Muslim majority.
For his part, the Archbishop of the Albanian Orthodox Church Anastasios Yannoulatos, “Our Church is printed by the spirit of peaceful coexistence between all religious groups, and the visit of Patriarch Kirill is an affirmation of these values.”
Patriarch Kirill is scheduled to meet Albanian President Ilir Meta and Prime Minister Edi Rama tomorrow.
