IDF: We foiled a plot to acquire Hezbollah with precision rockets

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — IDF said Israel had foiled what it called an attempt, the Lebanese Hezbollah organization, in cooperation with the Iranian Quds Force, to manufacture accurate missiles.

The Israeli army, in a written statement sent to Anatolia, that “Iran, after failing to transfer precision missiles, to Lebanon, resorted to trying to manufacture them there.”

“Between 2013-2015 and in light of the civil war in Syria, Iran began attempts to transfer precision-ready missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon through Syrian territory.”

“Most of these attempts were thwarted in strikes attributed to Israel, where Hezbollah was unable to obtain these missiles.”

The Israeli army said that in 2016, Iran decided to make a fundamental change in its methods of operation, not to transfer complete missiles, but to convert existing missiles into precision missiles, on Lebanese territory, through the transfer of precision materials from Iran. missiles from scientific research in Syria Institute.”

he said:” for this purpose, Hezbollah began to rehabilitate inside Lebanon sites , including in the capital , Beirut, in cooperation with the Iranian authorities, led by Mohammad Hossein Zadeh Hijazi, commander of the Corps of Lebanon in the Qods force , led by Qassem Soleimani. ”

The IDF stated that “the material was transported through three axes: first, the land axis from Syria to Lebanon through the official crossings of the Lebanese state (for example the Masna crossing); and secondly, the air axis through civilian flights landing at the Hariri International Airport in Beirut, And third, the maritime axis through the port of Beirut. ”

However, “during the years 2016-2018, Iran and Hezbollah faced difficulties in implementing the plan to convert missiles and failed to achieve the desired goal.”

He said: “Recently, Iran and Hezbollah are seeking to accelerate the precision missile project by trying to establish production and conversion sites on Lebanese territory in several areas.”

In its report, the IDF provided an explanation of what precise missiles it was talking about.

He said: “Precise missile is a missile with guidance devices, through which he can hit targets a few meters away.”

He added: “The missile carries a number of main parts: installation, engine, steering and driving materials, explosives and warhead.”

“Most of the rockets in Hezbollah’s arsenal depend on inaccurate weapons of various dimensions,” the IDF said.

In its report, the IDF released the names of four Iranian figures, from Hezbollah, who it said were linked to the precision missile project.

He said: “(Brigadier) Mohammad Hosseinzadeh Hijazi, commander of the Qods Force in Lebanon, who leads the precision missile project, is a senior officer in the Revolutionary Guards who works directly under Qods Force commander Qasem Soleimani, as part of his mission to lead Iranian forces permanently approved in Lebanon. “.

He added: “In addition to Hijazi, two other senior officers of the Revolutionary Guards are involved in the project: (Colonel) Majeed Nawab, the project’s technical officer, who works under the guidance of the Qods Force led by Qassem Soleimani, and is an expert engineer in the field of surface-to-surface missiles and oversees the technological aspects. For the project, it effectively monitors and supervises the locations of the precision missile project in Lebanon, and (Brigadier) Ali Asghar Norouzi – the head of the Revolutionary Guards logistical body in charge of transporting materials and logistics equipment from Iran to Syria, and from there to the precise missile sites in Lebanon.

The fourth figure, according to the Israeli army, is “Fouad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah leader who leads the project of precision rockets in the organization, Shukr is a senior adviser to the Secretary-General of Hezbollah and a member of the Supreme Committee in Hezbollah – Council of Jihad.”

The Israeli army added: “Shukr has been working in Hezbollah for 30 years, and played a role in the planning and implementation of the operation against the US Navy in Beirut on 23/10/1983, which led to the killing of 241 US soldiers, and is included in the list of wanted by the US State Department, which He offered $ 5 million to those who transmit information to help bring him to justice. ”
