UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio threatened the United States with retaliatory measures to impose duties on European-made goods.
At the same time, the minister believes that at the moment it is necessary to end the trade war and proceed to dialogue. He also noted that the introduction of duties will weaken both the States and the EU itself.
Earlier, the World Trade Organization arbitration allowed the introduction of duties on goods and services of the EU countries by almost $ 7.5 billion due to the scandal with funding by European governments Airbus.
The US mission said that these subsidies have seriously damaged the US aerospace industry and all its employees. In this regard, the WTO decided that the States have the right to introduce countermeasures in response to illegal EU subsidies.
On October 3, US authorities decided on October 18 to introduce duties on aircraft and agricultural products from the EU. Most of these measures will affect products from France, Germany, Spain and the UK.
