UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – NASA has published a new image of the Sun. The picture was taken by the satellite of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) in mid-May.
The photo was made up of various images using extreme ultraviolet light with different wavelengths. Thanks to this, the picture was colored purple.
“SDO helps researchers understand the influence of solar activity on the Earth and near-Earth space, studying the atmosphere of the Sun on small scales of space and time and using different wavelengths simultaneously,” note astronomers.
In the photo, the regions of solar activity are also visible: turquoise arcs of lines of force of the magnetic field are viewed, which are bent in the direction from the surface of the star.
