India announces the killing of 3 militants in Jammu and Kashmir

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The Indian authorities announced, on Saturday, the killing of 3 members of the “Army of Muhammad” in Jammu and Kashmir, the part of New Delhi controlled by Kashmir.

The Indian security official, Vijay Kumar, said in a statement, that the security forces killed the reader, “Yasser,” the organization’s official in the region, and two of his aides.

Kumar added that the killing of the three members of the organization took place during clashes between them and the Indian security forces, which took place in the village of “Ariparigham” in the region.

On the other hand, local media reported, quoting an Indian army source, that the three elements were planning to carry out an attack on the occasion of Republic Day, which falls on January 26 of each year.

It is noteworthy that the organization is the main suspect in carrying out an attack that killed 44 members of the Indian forces, in mid-February 2018, in the Kashmir area under the control of New Delhi, which caused great tension between the latter and its neighbor, Islamabad.

Pakistan has repeatedly denied Indian charges of supporting the organization, and confirmed its condemnation of the aforementioned attack and its willingness to assist in investigations into it.

It is called “Jammu and Kashmir”, on the part controlled by India, and includes resistance groups that have been struggling since 1989, against what they consider “Indian occupation” of their regions, killing tens of thousands.

Its residents have been demanding independence from India and joining Pakistan since the two countries gained independence from Britain in 1947 and shared the Muslim-majority region.

In the context of the Kashmir conflict, Pakistan and India fought 3 wars in 1948, 1965, and 1971, killing about 70,000 people on both sides.
